VoicingVoicing is the art of adjusting the pianos tone quality (brighter, softer, color, too tinny and brash) and evenness to the pianist liking. The hardest step is Step 1. Communication between what the pianist hears/wants and what piano tech hears. Like regulation which shoots for an even feel, voicing shoots for even sound from note to note in the Attack, Development and Decay of the tone. Voicing uses a variety and combination of hammer manipulations, (sanding, needling and liquid hardeners/softeners). A little voicing is included in each tuning to target notes that are really bad and stick out.
What's the next step??
